Bucks are sourced by location and must be born from unrelated parents. All efforts are made to ensure no buck used is inbred, line bred or has any relatedness to Broadwaters Rats. The aim is to represent genes from all locations of the UK and to represent all gene pools including exhibition and non exhibition rats who tend to have wider gene pools. 

Ultimately, each stud represents only 50% of the genes of only ONE generation of Broadwaters Rats. 

Each stud buck contributes to the gene pool of the maternal line before becoming diluted within 6 generations.
